Feuerzangenbowle

What to do on a cold winters night? Answer: Drink Feuerzangenbowle!

Stefan introduced us to the German Christmas tradition of Feuerzangenbowle on Saturday night. It resembles Gluhwein (hot mulled wine) but the final stage is to lay a sugar dome over the pot, pour rum onto the dome and set it alight. The sugar slowly melts into the wine adding extra sweetness. The drink is spicy and warming, perfect for cold winter nights. The gathering of merry people enjoyed this Christmas tradition until the wee hours of the morning! Hick hick!!
